About
The Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures & Pelvic Rescection Course is an advanced cadaveric educational initiative designed to address the growing need for structured, high-level training in complex pelvic and acetabular surgery. Pelvic and acetabular trauma, as well as pelvic resections, represent some of the most demanding challenges in orthopaedic surgery. Their successful management requires not only theoretical knowledge, but also refined surgical skills, three-dimensional anatomical understanding, and familiarity with advanced operative strategies. This course is developed to bridge the gap between theory and real-life surgical practice.
Under the scientific leadership of the First Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, the course offers an intensive, hands-on learning experience using fresh frozen cadaveric specimens. Participants are guided through realistic surgical scenarios, focusing on decision-making, exposure techniques, reduction strategies, fixation principles, and resection approaches in a controlled educational environment.
The two-day structure allows for focused immersion:
Day 1 is dedicated to acetabular and pelvic trauma, emphasizing fracture patterns, surgical approaches, and fixation techniques.
Day 2 focuses on pelvic resections, addressing complex anatomy, oncologic principles, and reconstruction challenges.
The Course aims to empower orthopaedic surgeons with confidence, precision, and surgical clarity, promoting safe practice and excellence in the management of complex pelvic pathology. It reflects a commitment to continuous, hands-on education and to the advancement of orthopaedic surgical standards.
