Microsurgery is a specialization of Orthopaedic Surgery that refers to all operations to treat injuries to vessels, nerves, tendons, operations that are all carried out with the use of a microscope. These operations are of the utmost importance as not only the viability of the limb is directly threatened, but often the patient’s life itself. Also, microsurgery is applied by many surgical specialties as the surgical treatment with the help of a microscope is done with greater safety and precision. Despite the importance of this specialization, there is no organized clinical training of young surgeons in this field.

Since 1985, the Orthopaedic Clinic of Ioannina in the Microsurgery Laboratory has been organizing microsurgery training weeks for all specialties. Since 1985, the Orthopaedic Clinic of Ioannina in the Microsurgery Laboratory has been organizing microsurgery training weeks for all specialties.
